Welcome letter from Coach Don

Hello!   Thank you all for accepting a spot onto the UFA 2004 Boys Red Team for the 2016-2017 soccer year.  It is always nice to have try outs behind us and now we can get to the good stuff.  This email is just to make sure everyone is on the same page before summer kicks into high gear.   Signing Day:  June 9th is signing day for the U7-U13 age groups and June 16th is signing day for U14-U19.   •       Please look for an email from UFA ([email protected]), on signing day, that will give you instructions on how to get completely registered for the 2016-2017 soccer year and make payments.   •       You will have 3 days to officially accept a position on the team, with payment, in the Blue Sombrero registration system.   •       Please be sure you are somewhere with internet access on signing day.   Uniforms:  This is the 1st year of a 2-year uniform cycle.  All players will need to complete a uniform order.         •       U9-U13 uniform fitting will be held at Pinecrest Academy on June 18th: girls 1-3pm and boys 3-5pm.   •       U14-U19 uniform fitting will be held at Pinecrest Academy on June 25th: girls 1-3pm and boys 3-5pm.   •       Our team manager will distribute more information to you soon.   Team Camp:  Team Camp is the week of July 25th and will kick off our season.   •       There is a 5-day, 3 hours per day, mandatory camp for all players July 25th through July 29th.  Times for each age group will be posted on the website early July.  Sessions will run 9am-12pm, 1pm4pm or 5pm-8pm, depending on field availability and coaching commitments.   •       There will also be a parent/player team meeting that week.  At that time, we will go over the fall timeline, player expectations, parent expectations, and address any other questions and/or concerns.   •       Our Team Meeting will be held at Team Camp, on TBD immediately following the training session.   Practices:  Practice times and locations will be confirmed in early July.  We will probably train three times a week at Fowler Park from 6:30 to 8:00pm.     Skills for Soccer. Skills for Life.   In the world of select soccer, there has to be a balance between winning and development.  •       It is my goal to increase every player's development over the course of the year. •       It is important that players learn to be passionate about the game and develop a deep love for the sport. •       Players are expected to bring their passion and commitment to training and games while working hard to improve in all areas of the game: technically, tactically, physically and mentally •       All of this and our goals for the season will be addressed at our team meeting.    Blue Sombrero (BS) Team Page:  Beginning on signing day, we will have access to our own team page in the Blue Sombrero system.   •       The team page will allow us to communicate from any device, share pictures/videos, house a team calendar and much more.   •       Please review the BS Team Page User Guide on our website under Parent’s Corner.   Team Manager:  Please join me in thanking Robyn Dennis for volunteering to be our team’s manager.  •       She will assist in disseminating communications from the club and myself to you, the parents.   •       Please be sure to answer any questions and provide the necessary documentation that Robyn requests in a timely manner – email- [email protected].   Communication:  “UFA will only communicate player information to the person(s) listed as primary and/or secondary account holder.”  UFA is defined as: the club, you, the team manager and/or any person relaying information that is pertinent to a minor player.  That means any person not listed on your account will either need to be added to the account or you will need to notify the TM to add them to our team’s distribution list.   •       If you need to add an additional individual to the team’s contact list, it is the duty of the primary account holder to notify the coach and team manager; and/or make the necessary changes to the account holder’s UFA (Blue Sombrero) account.  •       Please let Robyn and myself know if you would like to include any extended family members to the team’s distribution list.   •       In addition, you will need to add them to your BS account as a secondary account holder or you may use the primary’s additional email space.  (You may add more than 1 secondary account holder.  Note all secondary account holders will be invited to attach themselves to the account, meaning they will have access to see payment information and account details.)   That should be it for now.  Be expecting Robyn to email further information soon.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.  My preferred contact method is by phone or email, 404-580-1855 or [email protected]   Looking forward to a great year with the players!   Thanks, Don Schultz 2004 United FA-Forsyth Boys Red   Skills for Soccer.
